Tired of winter all ready…looking for something to get excited about in the new year? Join us at Glasgow Square for our first “Kitchen Party”. If you were born and raised in Nova Scotia, then you will be quite familiar with the tradition of a kitchen party. At its essence, a kitchen party features good food, great East Coast music, and conversation that ensures nobody will be engrossed in their smartphones.
While we might not be your kitchen, we will have great East Coast Music by The Kitchen Criminals and The East River Rats along with good food for purchase by Fork in the Road food truck and the opportunity to meet and chat with new people.
Gather your friends and come out and enjoy the fun. The best part is that it is not your kitchen and you will not have to clean up the mess at the end of the evening!
This is a 19+ event. Government ID’s upon request.
Tickets are available at Glasgow Square Theatre, by calling 902-752-4800 or online at
Tickets are $15.00 each or $25.00 per couple.

The Kitchen Criminals

The Kitchen Criminals (KC) is a four piece ensemble from Pictou County. Their East Coast, Celtic-Rock sound was largely influenced by Atlantic Canadian bands Ma...cKeel, Great Big Sea, Rawlins Cross, Dropkick Murphys and Fleur Mainville.

KC formed in 2016 due to a shared musical connection, enthusiasm and a love for the typical East Coast kitchen party atmosphere. They have built a large fan base by playing for pubs, colleges and universities, as well as entertaining at private functions such as weddings, corporate parties, benefits and many more. Their music ranges from original songs, to fiddle reels and Celtic classics. This group’s musical appeal is one that extends into many stylistic tastes.

Outfitted with an acoustic guitar, fiddle, bodhrán drum, tin whistle, mandolin, and bass guitar, KC set the stage with their Celtic instrumentation and rock approach to the music industry.
East River Rats
East River Rats was founded by front man Brian MacKenzie in the summer of 2016, bringing his Scottish roots and love of powerful Celtic music to the vanguard. A...fter several attempts at building the band with various local musicians the final/current line-up was born in the summer of 2017 and includes Caleb MacIvor on bass, accordion and vocals, Marree MacKenzie on the fiddle, Cole Yorke on mandolin and backing vocals, Eli Hollett on drums and backing vocals, Greg Stanley on guitar and backing vocals, Jarvis Hale on banjitar, and Brian MacKenzie on vocals, tin whistle, guitar and bodhran. Hailing from the northern shore of Nova Scotia, Canada (widely known as the birthplace of New Scotland), these seven musicians come together to create a unique high energy blend of Celtic rock that has a little something for everyone to enjoy, and a live performance and presence that has to be seen to believe.
