Glasgow Square Theatre opened its doors in September of 2001.
Sitting on the edge of the East River Glasgow Square was built as a venue for community gatherings, events and attractions, and as a permanent home for the New Glasgow Riverfront Jubilee. Glasgow Square is a unique, indoor/outdoor amphitheatre which provides year-round entertainment on the riverfront.
Glasgow Square presents a wide variety of the performing arts – contemporary music, comedy, dance, live theatre and more. In addition to presenting national and international touring acts, Glasgow Square also puts a strong emphasis on regional and local performers.
A member of Music Nova Scotia, East Coast Music Association and The Atlantic Presenters Association, Glasgow Square plays an active role in the music industry from the presenting perspective.
Glasgow Square Theatre is home to performances from New Glasgow Youth Theatre Company, Miss Carla’s Dance Studio, The Reason For Hope and Music Shapes New Glasgow.
The Square also plays host to such community events as New Glasgow’s Race On The River-Dragon Boat Festival, Johnny Miles Running Events, Marathon Of Respect and Equality, as well as New Glasgow’s Pre-Canada Day Party and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Glasgow Square is centrally located in downtown New Glasgow, and is the perfect venue for weddings, receptions, banquets, seminars, business meetings, conferences, fundraisers and much more.
